Show Business Weekly CD Review:
March 2003
Review by David Hurst
Recorded live at the Second Stage and Joe's Pub, put a little love in your mouth! is a delightful excursion into the mind of Amanda Green via her lyrics that have been neatly compiled for us in this zany and entertaining CD. Working with composers like Curtis Moore, John Bucchino, Steven McClintock, Walter Edgar Kennon, David Sherman, Ned Ginsburg, Sam Lorber and herself, Green's lyrics are clever, silly and often outrageous.
And as performed by her friends, including Brooks Ashmanskas, Mario Cantone, Jonathan Dokuchitz, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kim Lindsay, Jessica Molaskey, Billy Stritch and Mary Testa, they're always funny and a welcome addition to the every-growing cannon of contemporary songwriters who are brave enough and bold enough to be themselves. Aspiring performers looking for fresh material would do well to discover Green's voice in gems like "If You Leave Me...?" and "Bury Me Standing." After all, she learned from the very best... her father Adolph.
